God created all that exists. He created this world, the universe that our earth moves in. He created all the stars that we see. All then is His to do with as He pleases. The term Creationism has been used for this belief.

Day Two

Day two of Creation to me is very interesting. On the surface nothing great seemed to happen. God spoke into being the atmosphere of earth. Big deal! God devoted a total of 3 verses to the description of this part of creation.

Just below the very casual description of God creating the atmosphere are some things that we need to pay a bit of attention to. First He said He divided the waters. Some of the water of earth was placed above the atmosphere and some below. It was kind of an air sandwich between two slices of water. What would this have meant for earth, for the environment, for the life that God would place on the planet?

The first thing that comes to mind is that the earth would have been in a giant greenhouse. The temperature would have been even and probably not fluctuated at all. I have always said that the perfect temperature is 80 degrees F. I know that lots of you have issue with that, but I think the earth may have been about 80. It would have also been quite humid being that the atmosphere was surrounded by water which was in turn heated by the sun.

The next thing I would think is that the suns rays would have been greatly filtered down, defused. Light from the sun would not have been so harsh. No way to get sun burned. No UV radiation to burn, break down living cells. I wonder what the appearance of everything was like, no harsh light, no hard shadows. All of earth bathed in a perfectly defused light. I sometimes dabble in picture taking. When I desire to take outdoor photos of a specific subject the early morning sunlight is the best. It is diffused by the atmosphere making a much more even light with shadows that are not stark. In all, the photos in this light are the best. I’m betting that the earth was lit with a light that was even better than that. Colours would not have been washed out, just vibrant and full of life.

We often say about someone who is protected that they live in a bubble. That is precisely what God did for us when He created the earth. He put it in a bubble. The atmosphere of earth would have been perfect for life at creation.

Under perfect conditions what would the plants, trees, animals have looked like? Don’t know.

There would have been no weather as we know it now. No disturbances, no rain, no storms, no winter. Wow! God is good. A perfect life is what He designed for us. A perfect world is what He created for us.

First Day

I kind of ran through creation really quickly. I took a little time this morning to look at Genesis 1:1. Spent a bit of time looking at the events of the first day.

The first day was really a busy one. Most of what is important to us was created on that very first day. Earth and Space were the first on the list, undefinable, but first. Space was empty and the earth was formless according to the text. Water was another big one, water came along with the creation of earth. That was all the Lord made of the creation of these things.

The creation of light and time seems to have come next on that first day. God made more to do about these things. I saw a little something about the creation of light today that really got me thinking. It might not be much but, God created the light, then He separated it from the darkness. That got me to thinking a bit. What does God intend for us to understand by separating the light from the darkness. Perhaps the light He created filled everything, there were no shadows, no dark spots. This is I suppose like the light of God’s judgement that shines into our lives, it lights everything, there is nothing hidden from it. This new light that God had made may have flowed around everything like water filling every crack and void. Here is what may have been. When God created light it was not linear such as the light of the sun. The bible says He divided the light from the darkness. Could it be that He made it linear after creating it? Linear being that it travels in one direction. As we shine a light on an object it illuminates that object and flows on past that object at it’s borders. The side of the object away from the light source is not illuminated by the light, it resides in shadow, or darkness.

I did a little searching around on the internet as that thought filled my mind. I found that research is now being done on non-linear light as the way forward in computing and communications. Interesting!

After creating light, separating it from darkness, He defined a day as being morning and evening. The days of creation were defined by God at the very first day. 24 hrs! The days of creation according to scripture are just like the days we have now. It has always been interesting to me that in these few short verses describing the creation of the world and space, light and dark, that God would take the time to define the length of time it took to do these things. He gave us the Bench Mark of time.

God is great! He is the creator of all things around us. He dictates how those things behave.

Everything that is made is His, because He made it. What God does with creation is His own decision to make.

Star of the Show

God devoted an entire chapter of the book of Genesis to describing how He created the universe, in what order, and in how much time He created it.

He spent the very next chapter of Genesis talking about His star creation. Man! The creation of man was mentioned in chapter one, but only in passing just as everything else was mentioned. Chapter two goes into more detail about the creation of man. Detail about the surroundings in which God put man. God does this because man is the star of the show as far as creation is concerned. God describes special things that He did for man, and how He created woman to be his companion.

God had gone to the trouble of making a special place for the new couple to live. They had in this place everything they needed for a great life. There was no hard work to be done. The only job that God had given to Adam at this point was to rule over all of creation and to care for the garden.

Why had God made mankind? Why did He give them everything they needed? His desire was and is to commune with man, to fellowship with him. He want’s to talk with us, walk with us, be the main part of our lives. He want’s to be worshiped by us, to be held in His proper place, at the centre of our lives. He wants to be our big picture.

We complain today that we have no time. That was not God’s intention. He created us to spend time with Him. To enjoy Him, to talk with Him, to need Him. We get caught up in the whirl wind of our lives today where it is easy to forget that God wants our attention. Are the things we are doing evil if they pull us away from God? No, not necessarily, they are often good things. We work to eat, buy a house, clothe out bodies, ensure a good life for our children. The bad part of all of this is that we forget God, our mind’s eye is on paying the bills and we lose sight of what we were created for… to worship our creator God.

Don’t forget we are the star of creation. Jesus taught us that if we seek after God with our whole heart, He will provide the things we need. Could it be that we see the bills so large in our lives because we have our focus on them instead of the God of our lives? He want’s our attention, He asks for our attention. Lets give Him our attention and see what He does.

Creation

Well, it seems we like to make things “isms” and such, so I think this would be a thought on creationism.

It is said by some that the world came into being in a violent bang! A bang that hurled everything around us into existence. I suppose to some degree they are correct! There was in fact great violent, and things did really explode into existence!

God alone existed before the world and Universe around us. God speaking to Himself decided to create those things that we see. The beginning in the bibles account of creation does not refer to God, He was already there, has been forever. Hard to fathom but we must simply accept this by faith. The beginning refers to the beginning of the things that we see. The bible after all is not written for God’s benefit, it is written for our benefit. So in the beginning God…

There was no light, no matter, no energy. To this point we agree with the big bang THEORISTS. Here we separate, The bang that came was not of of chance from nothing. The bang that came was God’s voice saying “let there be light.” Imagine the violent bang as light came into existence for the very first time. It’s hard to imagine, nay impossible, but have you ever been in a dark room just relaxing only to have someone turn on the light. It is an outright assault to the eyes, and even the other senses. An act of violence! A bang!

God would go on according to His word, the bible, to speak, and matter exploding into existence for the first time.

The full account of the creation is found in the very first chapter of Genesis. It is God’s commentary of what happened that week. He alone was there for the whole event, He alone has the full story. He alone set into place all matter that we see around us. He alone put the stars into their places. He was the source and director of the Big Bang that brought everything into existence. He teaches in the bible that He also keeps all of creation, which means that He keeps it together, just as He wants it to be.

He teaches us that He created us for His pleasure, and everything else was created for us. What a great God. He wants us to have all the great things that this earth has to offer. We often forget that we were not created for the world, as many would have us believe today.
